Traditional Wedding Dresses OUT - Short Sexy Wedding Dress IN

Yesterday I saw a picture of a wedding gown on Facebook with a very long train, titled, "Are long trains long gone or long overdue for a comeback?" The response was overwhelming that the most people loved the dress. If this is the case, why are designers gravitating toward short sexy wedding dresses? Have traditional wedding gowns been replaced by sexier, sleeker styles?

The amazing thing about fashion, is that styles are constantly recycled. Though the modern bride circa 2013 may still want a long sleeved, long train ball gown... just not the Princess Diana type! Fashion has the amazing ability to build from the past and reinvent "old" styles to modernize them. This is the current trend with more and more brides overlooking traditional wedding dresses for short sexy ones!

Even more fascinating, "short wedding dresses," resulted in 58,300,000! Yet, any combination of, "long train wedding dresses, "gave slightly over 2.5M. Something is going on here with short sexy wedding dresses dominating Google searches! The question I ask whether the designers are influencing statistics by producing these gowns, so that's the only thing available, or did the demand supersede supply?
The age-old question, "what came first the chicken or the egg" pops up. Did plus size brides DEMAND more short styles and the industry listened, and gave them what they wanted? Or were plus size brides simply told what the market had available and what options to buy? By the overwhelming response from Google, its pretty safe to say, demand creatsed supply in the case, BUT fashion designers are always at the helm deciding what will be in style this season and next.

Another explanation for the decrease of traditional wedding sexy dress, is the fact more couples are having destination weddings. We all know how uncomfortable sand is when it gets in your feet. Can you imagine how HOT, sweaty and miserable you would be on beach, in 100 degrees in plus size ball gown? NO THANK YOU! Short gowns certainly have their place.

Yet still many brides will wear traditional wedding dresses to walk down the aisle, yet quickly change and slip into something more comfortable to dance at the reception. Though stunningly beautiful, long train gowns are a hassle to dance with, and you risk somebody stepping on it, tripping on it or spilling. It could really be more of a hazard than helpful! Undeniably, any bride will take ravishing pictures in a cathedral length ball gown, but would feel more comfortable at the reception in a sexy wedding gown!

Swimwear 2014 Resort Trends

Arriving to stores mid-November, the 2014 cruise collections feature ethnic prints in bold colors like lagoon blue and tropical orange. Purple and lime move into accent colors featured in trims and accessories. And of course, the best bright white and jet black monochrome duo’s hit the shelves just in time for people to purchase a great happy hour suit.

So what is the lifestyle of the cruise customer? Lets break it down into 3 main activities that I hear my cruise customers being excited about.

Sunning– For most of the country a resort vacation is a quick getaway to soak up some sun since home is being dusted in snow and frost. This is a special suit to sit pool or beachside, and tends to push the envelope in trends. It can be any style, but fashion forward is a must. For 2014 I recommend playing with prints and or small cut away details (that means no solids and no mono-kinis).

Out & About – Modern resort travelers are doing adventure vacations and cruise ship travel with other people. A great suit that offers style and function is a must for this jet-setter. This suit should be able to be worn easily with a cover-up, and most people appreciate matching. A great tankini or the 2014 trend of having a matching rash-guard works great. All you need is a great pair of sexy swimwear or wrinkle free skirt to create an outfit!

Happy Hour – Most cruise ships and resorts offer happy hour poolside. This traveler wants a suit to be seen in. Something fashion forward that looks even better when holding a blue Hawaii in one hand. Play with gold and silver details and match the suit with a silk sarong or fashionable sheer cover-up. For the more self-conscious, offer them a great maxi or beach dress that looks luxury and travels wrinkle free.

No matter which lifestyle the customer participates in, accessories are a must this season: the retro sunglasses, a great fedora or small brim hat (crushable for easy travel), the comfortable flip flop and the perfect beach bag. These essentials help travelers arrive in style.

How to Shop for Lingerie

Lingerie is probably one of your favorite Valentine's Day gifts (for obvious reasons), but before you get to rip it off her, learn how to get her something she will want to actually put on.

Valentine's Day is just a few days away. If you've been putting off the dreaded task of buying her lingerie it's time to face your fear. Trust us, the outcome will be extremely worth those few minutes of awkwardness. To make it less intimidating we got experts in the field to share tips that will turn you into an expert in all things lace.

Get Yourself Inside

While this first piece of advice may sound stupidly simple, it has to be said. In order to buy her something from a lingerie store, you actually have to walk into a store. "We see many men hovering around outside looking in the windows, perhaps getting up the nerve to come in," says Monica Mitro, EVP of Brand Communication and Events at Victoria's Secret. But remember this when you are standing there nervously peeping the windows: loitering around outside a lingerie store is much creepier than actually shopping inside of it, so man-up and go in.

Know You Are Not Alone

Once you make it inside you'll realize you're not the lone guy sticking out like a Yankees cap at Fenway. According to Mitro, Valentine's Day and the few days leading up to it are the most popular days of the year for men to shop for lingerie: "Guys can take comfort in knowing that there will be lots of other men in the store all in the same situation." That also gives you a great opportunity to stock up for her birthday or other holidays when you might want to give her lingerie. Do it now while you've got comrads around for support.

Get Her Digits

It's extremely common for men to know absolutely nothing about sizing, so don't be embarrassed. Instead, do some investigative work by peeking in her drawers while she's in the shower or out of the room, suggests Alexis Isodora, owner of lingerie boutique Brooklyn Fox. Just remember that some brands size differently so check at least 3 of her bras and 3 of her sexy panties. Oh, and write it down, warns Isodora. There's no way you are going to remember, plus you can hand the info to a salesgirl who can help decipher the right size based on your notes.

Can't get her out of the room? Stick with an item that is available in small, medium, large or one size fits all. Don't try to guess without any basis for information—there is nothing scarier than getting her something that doesn't fit and having to deal with her resulting freak out.

Prepare Yourself

Before you head to a store check out their website to see what they have to offer and get an idea of what colors and styles you might like to see on your girl, suggests Mitro. Doing some preliminary shopping from the safety and privacy of your desk chair can make the process a little less overwhelming, plus you can stare at the models on your screen all you want without anyone singling you out as a perv!

Ask For Help

You may not want to stop on the road to ask for directions, but this is one place where you want to put your pride aside. If you're unsure (which you probably are), don't risk getting her something she'll hate. Think of the sales associates as your lingerie GPS and let them guide you to the right gift. "We love that we get to educate men and show them a few things we think will excite them and their partner," says Isodora. And the good thing is that they have seen some freaky stuff, so nothing will phase them.

Get the Good Stuff

Cotton may work for her everyday basics, but for Valentine's Day you definitely want to up the ante and go for lace, satin or silk. Or even better—a combination of them. Different styles suit different women but you hopefully know your woman pretty well, so Isodora suggests using common sense. If she's a laid back t-shirt & jeans kind of girl, she probably doesn't want a frilly, intricate bustier with complicated buttons or lace-ups. Try something sweet, simple, and satin.

If she's more high-maintenace and spends an hour putting on makeup, you probably could go the more complex route. For girly girls like this, Mitro suggests bold colors with glamorous lace.

Use Your Judgment

Above all use your judgment. If you're in a new relationship, don’t buy something too sexy, warns Mitro. If she's never expressed an interested in bondage, do not get her something that resembles a straight jacket. If she's not into role play, a skimpy candy stripper outfit is not going to go over well. And if she has insecurities about certain parts of her body (even if you swear she's perfect), don't get her something that will reveal those areas.

With Breastfeeding Awareness Month well under way, we have written about essentials items a breastfeeding mama might need and heard from founder of Pumping Essentials, Joy Kosack. Clothing that a breastfeeding mama wears can make all the difference in her success, level of comfort and ease of adapting to no fuss nursing.

Here are a few brands I have tried, trust and love! I had tried other brands when I was nursing my other two children, and I can say that my plan to commit to extended BF will be much easier knowing I have functional, fashionable lingerie and tops that will aid in discreet and stress-free nursing.

Belabumbum: For ease of nursing, we love Belabumbum lounge wear and pajamas. For luxe style and romantic designs, you’ll feel beautiful and comfortable while easily and discreetly nursing your babe. Each piece has special details and nothing feels like it was made for nursing, perfect now as maternity wear, perfect later as your is body transforming and you’re breastfeeding baby. You have to check out their new Queen Bee collection perfect for making any mama feel like a princess.

Bella Materna: When it comes to sexy lingerie, Bella Materna has a beautiful line of both wire and wire free bras. I had a variety of nursing bras in the past, and needed them for well over a year, and each and every time I dreaded putting on the ugly, style-less and not altogether comfortable nursing bras I had. Thanks to Bella Materna, I’m ditching the dinge and now have the most beautiful nursing and maternity bras a mama could want. I was shocked at the support, comfort and overall look of the wire-free nursing bras-they are so lux, and pretty as well as do quite a job to keep your growing mamahood in place. I can wear the Bella Materna bras all day, feeling comfortable and confident. I love the little details, each Bella Materna bra celebrates mamahood without compromising an ounce on sexy. Find Bella Materna on facebook or pinterest or twitter.

Bravado Designs: For all day comfort, great quality and an affordable pricepoint, look no further than Bravado designs nursing tanks and bras. I currently wear the tanks as for extra support while sleeping and find they offer super soft comfort while having just the right amount of stretch and fabric mobility. I know they’ll make nursing a cinch with they easy-open yet blending hooks. Not all tanks are created equally, and the Bravado Designs tanks are available in a variety of colors, as well as sizes (appropriate for larger busts!). They also have a full line of daily wear, comfy, bras in fun colors that offer good coverage, lift and support. The strap placement is perfect and the removable pads are great to adjust the bra as needed.

Glamourmom Nursing Tanks: For longer length, comfort and slim fit, Glamourmom tanks are essential to a BF moms’ arsenal. The best feature is the easily adjustable chest band, great for all stages of pregnancy and well beyond. This Glamourmom tank is so versatile and is the perfect tank for layering. Louis Valcourt: For edgy and modern nursing wear made easy, check out Louis Valcourt. I love how all I need to do is unzipper this top to feed baby discreetly, all while keeping my midsection covered and without having to wear what looks like a nursing top. High quality material means this top will stand up to multiple washings without losing its shape. I wear it now with leggings for a chic, sophisticated and easy maternity style.

Thyme Maternity: For a full line of affordable and stylish clothes that make nursing a cinch, Thyme Maternity has been a go-to brand throughout this pregnancy. I love their basics, and their on trend tops. I can mix and match the versatile pieces and can wear them during my pregnancy and beyond.

Undercover Mama: Undercover mama tanks are strapless camisoles that attach to any nursing bra. Great for layering under any shirt and keeping your style without investing in a new wardrobe, the Undercover Mama transforms any shirt into a nursing shirt.

Lingerie Closet: What’s In Yours?

Looking on myspace and other websites it’s hard to believe this but there are many plus women that do not wear lingerie. There are some that if they do wear it stick with just a silk chemise.

Here’s a tip and a secret from the guys I’ve dated and others that love women with curves:

They absolutely love sexy lingerie! My ex-boyfriends appreciated that I wore it.

Different colors, 2 piece numbers, lace, see thru, thongs, whatever. You have to know and believe how sexy you are before trying to convince a man. But here’s my number one reason for advising my fellow plus divas to invest in a lingerie wardrobe; do it for you.

My sexiest days or nights were when I took a hot bubble bath, had some slow music playing, candlelight and afterwards slipped on a nice piece of lingerie. Pamper yourself. This would be a good time to try out that new item you’ve been avoiding to try on for your man.

So one night just put it on and try it out.

Get yourself comfortable in it so the next time you all are together you’ll seem confident and comfortable in your curves and clothes. I’d also suggest treating yourself by getting your hair and nails done every once in awhile. I know times are tight but it’s tight for everyone, even those businesses. Some businesses are even having specials or discounts because of the tough economy.

To build my lingerie wardrobe, I’d buy things I thought were cute when I saw it on sale or clearance, even when I was single. So when I did get involved I could wear something different every night for a month without repeating.
